Partners In Education Hosts the 7th Annual PIE Walk to benefit programs for Students

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Partners In Education (PIE) will host the Seventh Annual PIE Walk on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Montgomery Zoo located at 2301 Coliseum Parkway. The event will feature live music, refreshments, games and activities, fun, and also serves as a fundraiser to support PIE's mentoring and tutoring programs for students in Montgomery Public Schools. HP Alabama is the Signature Sponsor for this year's walk.
Registration is currently underway, which includes a t-shirt, activities, games, and admission to enjoy the Montgomery Zoo. Children 17 years and under will be admitted for $5.00 and adults 18 years and older will be admitted for $10.00. The walk will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2011 with registration starting at11:30am with the walk beginning at 1:00pm. There will be performances by the BTW Jazz Band and the Bear Jump Rope Team along with an appearance by Big Mo.
Registration forms may be found on the Partners In Education website at www.montgomerypie.org or participants may register on the day of the event at the Zoo.

Beasley Allen Law Firm present classroom supplies to teachers at Martin Luther King Elementary School through Partners in Education
MONTGOMERY, ALA. (August 15, 2011) – On August 15, the law firm of Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., presented the teachers of Martin Luther King Elementary School with classroom supplies including card stock, crayons, pencils, markers, hand sanitizer and more.
“Beasley Allen has been partnering with Martin Luther King Elementary School for seven years. We hope that the supplies donated today will take some of the burden off of the teachers who dedicate their lives to these precious children” said Tom Methvin, Managing Shareholder.

PARTNERS IN EDUCATION RECEIVES $17,500 DONATION FROM THE MONTGOMERY CAPITAL ROTARY CLUB

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Montgomery Capital Rotary Club presented a check today in the amount of $17,500 to Partners In Education (PIE) at its regular lunch meeting held at the Wynlakes Golf and Country Club.
Darrel Warner, Rotarian and Golf Tournament Chairman, along with Tom Norris, Rotarian and Golf Tournament Co-Chairman presented the check to Chacolby Burns-Johnson, fellow Rotarian and Partners In Education Executive Director, and Craig Washing, Immediate Past President of Partners In Education. All net proceeds from the 13th Annual Golf Tournament benefit tutoring and mentoring programs offered by Partners In Education to students in Montgomery Public Schools.
The Montgomery Capital Rotary Club has a well-earned reputation as "The Education Club" with over a decade of service to public education in our community. The Club, which provided the seed money and initial support to establish PIE, gives a dictionary to every third-grader in Montgomery Public Schools – approximately 3,000 dictionaries in the fall of each school year. The dictionary giveaway is done in partnership with its Rotary District.
Partners In Education makes it possible for the public to participate in public education. PIE recruits, trains, screens, and matches tutors and mentors with public school students who need individualized support and help to succeed academically and prepare them for a bright future. PIE's mentor and tutor volunteers provide academic
support and vital relationships to improve the lives of students in our community.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Montgomery Capital Rotary Club presented a check today in the amount of $18,484 to Partners In Education (PIE) at its regular lunch meeting at the Capital City Club.
Terry Barber, Capital Rotary President, and Darrel Warner, Rotarian and Golf Tournament Chairman, presented the check to Neil Mercer, PIE Incoming President, and Chacolby Burns-Johnson, PIE Executive Director. The Montgomery Capital Rotary Club hosted the 12th Annual Golf Tournament to benefit PIE on April 26, 2010, at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club. All proceeds from the event benefit tutoring and mentoring programs sponsored by Partners In Education.

PARTNERS IN EDUCATION RECEIVES $5,000 FROM THE MICHAEL BAISDEN FOUNDATION

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Partners In Education (PIE) receives a $5,000 donation from the Michael Baisden Foundation at the One Million Mentors National Campaign to Save Our Kids event held Thursday night. Michael Baisden is a nationally syndicated radio host and founder of the Michael Baisden Foundation, which is a non-profit formed to eliminate illiteracy as well as promote technology and is dedicated to education, support and advancement in our communities.
For 2010 the current focus for the Foundation is on Mentoring. Michael Baisden has launched the One Million Mentors Campaign to Save Our Kids Tour, and Montgomery is one of seventy markets that will be visited during this tour. Partners In Education is pleased to be a recipient of a $5,000 donation awarded to the agency in support of its efforts and commitment to mentoring students in Montgomery Public Schools.
