Meet the Partners In Education Staff

Sonya Stallworth
Mentoring Director

Sonya Stallworth is Partners In Education's Mentoring Director. She understands and knows firsthand the importance of giving back. Over the past 13 years, she has worked with parents, students, families, volunteers and community partners in public and non-profit organizations to make a positive impact in our schools and our community.

Sonya’s career experiences have been with Girl Scouts of South Central Alabama as their Membership Outreach Manager and with Family Guidance Center of Alabama as a Family/Employment advocate in Montgomery and Lowndes County.

Before joining Partners In Education in 2011, she served with Montgomery Public Schools as a Behavioral Interventionist at Goodwyn Junior High. During her tenure, she facilitated the Parent/Student Advisory, Peer Meditation and Positive Behavior Support Committees.

She was also selected as the mentor liaison for Partners In Education School-Based Mentoring Program. Her unprecedented commitment and effort to support her mentors and student mentees landed her the Service Leadership and Liaison Award from PIE in July 2010.

Sonya graduated from the University of Maryland in Okinawa, Japan with a bachelor’s of science degree in Sociology.  She received her master’s of science degree in counseling from Troy University Montgomery.


Ebona Crenshaw
Mentoring Coordinator

Ebona Crenshaw serves as a Mentoring Program Coordinator for Partners in Education, Inc.  As a native of Montgomery, AL and a product of the Montgomery Public School System, she is committed to helping youth perform at their highest potential.

Ebona earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Dillard University; New Orleans, Louisiana in 2003.  In 2007, she earned a master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Health Care Administration and Policy from Auburn University Montgomery; Montgomery, Alabama. 

Prior to joining PIE, Ebona worked with specialized populations of at-risk youth at the Alabama Department of Youth Services. For six years, she worked with juveniles who committed sexual offenses. She also served as a Sociology professor at Virginia College, Montgomery Campus.

Ebona is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Council for Exceptional Children and Alabama Reading Association. She also serves as a Big Sister volunteer with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program with Family Guidance. Currently, Ebona is pursuing a second master’s degree in Collaborative Teaching (Spec. Ed.), K-6 at Auburn University Montgomery.

 

Charles Jackson
Mentoring Coordinator

Charles Jackson joined the Partners in Education staff in January 2011. He serves as the Mentoring Coordinator for middle school programs. He is a proud product of the Montgomery Public School System graduating from Sidney Lanier High School in 2000. After playing college football at South Carolina State University, Mr. Jackson graduated from Auburn University Montgomery with a degree in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems in 2004.

He came to PIE after working at Auburn University as a Public Relations Coordinator in which he was responsible for coordinating national and statewide events, managing social marketing campaigns, coalition building, and community awareness. Mr. Jackson was also involved in the design of billboards, public service announcements, and various web and print media. As a spokesperson, he has appeared on various television segments and has conducted numerous awareness presentations across the country. While on staff, he conceptualized and developed the Teen Advisory Board for the Alabama Community Healthy Marriage Initiative, which is a federally-funded program of the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University.

He is a proud veteran and is currently serving in his ninth year as an Air Force Reservist. He also serves as the Volunteer Director and College Ministry Coordinator at The City Church of Auburn.
